The 5 best
Klaviyo alternatives
Klaviyo's profile-based pricing scales steeply once you store every browse and abandon event, and the depth of its data model is overkill — and lock-in — for non-Shopify stores or simpler newsletter senders.

Our top pick
Omnisend
Klaviyo's closest ecommerce rival with email, SMS, and push in one bill.
Our take
Klaviyo's pricing trap isn't the headline number — it's the profile model. Every browse, add-to-cart, and viewed-product event creates or updates a profile, and your bill scales with profile count, not engaged subscribers. Stores with high traffic and low conversion end up paying for anonymous browsers. Add SMS credits, reviews, and the CDP and the bill stops being competitive with Omnisend or Drip. The honest test: open your Klaviyo bill, divide by the number of contacts you actually emailed last month, and compare to Omnisend's published rate. If it's more than ~1.5x, you're paying for data depth you're not using.
Switching cost
Profile and list export is clean via CSV or API. The work is rebuilding flows — abandon cart, browse abandon, post-purchase, win-back — and reconnecting your store's product feed. Budget 1–2 days for a typical Shopify store moving to Omnisend or Drip (they ship Klaviyo flow templates), longer for stores with custom event-driven segments. SMS keywords and short codes do NOT port — you'll need to re-provision and remind subscribers to re-opt-in.

What buyers actually say about Klaviyo
Paraphrased from public reviews on G2, Reddit, and Hacker News. Not vendor copy.
- Profile-based pricing is the most cited cancellation reason on G2 and Reddit.
- Anonymous browse and add-to-cart events inflate profile counts on high-traffic stores.
- SMS, reviews, and CDP add-ons make total cost hard to predict month-to-month.
- Predictive analytics and segmentation are genuinely best-in-class — but most teams use a fraction of them.
- Non-Shopify stores feel like second-class citizens; integrations outside Shopify are thinner.
- Support quality has slipped as the company scaled post-IPO.
