Account owner opens Account & billing → Billing → Cancel plan.

Export every audience (list) from Audience → All contacts → Export.

Download campaign reports as CSV — they get archived but harder to access on Free.

Disconnect Mailchimp from Shopify, WordPress, or any embedded forms.

Watch-outs
- Pausing keeps your audience; cancelling deletes it after a retention window.
- Mailchimp double-counts duplicate contacts across audiences — exports inherit that.
- Transactional Mandrill is a separate subscription; cancel that too if you use it.
